Which is better pandigital or cruz

The Cruz dropped our office Wi-Fi networks a few times, which was frustrating. The tablet scored 7 hours, 34 minutes on our video playback battery test, which is fine for a tablet of this size and class.

The battery isn't removable. The single, front-facing camera is designed for video chatting, and it records video at a decent clip, with by resolution at 24 frames per second. But still images are dim and blurry, and only VGA quality. The Velocity Micro Cruz T is in the top rank of cheap Android tablets, but we still don't recommend it. The screen is grainy and low-res, and the OS is a non-Google-approved version of Android 2.

The new Cruz e-reader runs the Android OS, version 2. With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. Pandigital packages the SuperNova with a customized version of Android 2. The lock screen features the familiar large clock displaying the date and time and the charge level.

Beneath the clock are two tabs; the right controls the sound, while the sliding the left tab unlocks the tablet. The SuperNova has four home screens. Icons for Settings, Applications, and the Browser are located at the bottom of each of the home screens. There are two blank screens with plenty of space for apps and widgets. The remaining screen has a music player and additional blank space for additional customization. As the Supernova is not a Google-certified Android device, it doesn't have access to the Android Market.

We enjoyed using InTouch, a news and social media aggregator that let us follow our Twitter and Facebook streams as well as get the latest news from sources including CNN. Unlike Pulse--where you can view content from multiple sources--InTouch only let us look at one media source at a time. OfficeSuite Professional 5 is also included, but we could only view--not edit--our files. Facebook and the UPlayer media player were also pre-installed.

Opening apps and switching between screens took approximately 1 to 2 seconds. And despite taking 2 minutes and 30 seconds to download, Angry Birds Rio was a quick and seamless once we began playing. We didn't notice a lag as we zoomed in and out to figure out the best spot to aim our avian ammunition. Birds flew uninterrupted into boxes and other birds in a satisfying manner. However, during our benchmark testing, the slate showed a repeated lack of oomph. On the CPU portion of the generically named Benchmark test, the SuperNova scored 1,, failing to match the 2, average for Android tablets.

Its default setting fits the webpage to the screen, so there's no left and right scrolling. I'd recommend installing the Dolphin browser instead; it works better and has a lot of features.

The browser can download any of the formats that the Pandigital Novel supports listed below. If a memory card is installed the download generally goes there, so it will need to be imported by tapping the icon. Unfortunately the browser doesn't support Flash so video websites like Hulu are out. I tested some videos and they worked well enough but jerked a bit during play. It seems to drop a few frames with most videos.

The picture quality is pretty good for such a small screen. The device also comes with a little stand that works well for watching videos and slideshows in landscape orientation. You can also install this YouTube app that I found; most don't work but this older version gets the job done. There's a slideshow feature with a number of different settings for speed adjustment, playlists, and adding music.

Two speakers and a headphone jack are located on the bottom edge of the device. The volume buttons are on the right side. The speakers sound about as good as you'd expect—they get the job done and they are louder than most ereaders. Audio functions include setting playlists, shuffle, and repeat. Sort by title or artist. Minimize the audio menu to keep listening while doing other tasks.

The Pandigital Novel is an ereader combined with an Android tablet. While it isn't particularly proficient at either, for the price it's enough to attract a wide audience.

The fact that it combines so many different elements into one gives it an edge, playing video, reading, internet, email, etc.
